The Sanfilippo family came from Sicily in 1969. In 1978, two brothers (Alfio and Onofrio Sanfilippo) opened Volare. They worked together establishing the business until 1998 when Alfio and Onofrio decided to return to Sicily. In order to keep the restaurant in the family, their sister Anna Sanfilippo took over.
