HMIA was established in New Orleans by Hartwig Moss in November, 1871 and has operated continuously since that date under successive generations of the Moss family. Founded by Hartwig Moss, and succeeded by Washington Irving Moss, Hartwig Moss II, Hartwig Moss III, and now Robby (Hartwig Moss IV) as President and CEO. Robby is the fifth generation of the family actively involved in the leadership of the company. We recognized our 145th anniversary in November of 2016.
Our capabilities include a full range of risk management and insurance services for businesses of all types. While a significant number of our clients are located in New Orleans and the surrounding region, we have and are working with clients located around the country. Our membership in Intersure, a consortium of the best entrepreneurial and technical minds in the insurance industry, facilitates our ability to provide superb country-wide, and indeed worldwide, services to our clients.
